Mickey Barnett is the managing partner of the Barnett Law Firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a general practice law firm focusing on litigation. His particular areas of expertise are corporate, commercial, real estate, business, and family law as well as probate and estate planning.
Mickey Barnett is admitted to practice before the New Mexico Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico, the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He has been a member of both the Federalist Society and the Christian Legal Society for more than twenty years, and previously served on the Appellate Nominating Commission for the New Mexico Supreme Court and Court of Appeals from 1995 to 2002.
Mickey Barnett has a long history of public service in addition to his legal practice. He served the public in the New Mexico State Senate from 1980 to 1984 and as the Republican National Committeeman from 2000-2004. Previously he served the federal government as a legislative assistant to Senator Pete Domenici (1972-1976) and received a Presidential appointment in 2006 and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve a seven-year term as a Governor of the U.S. Postal Service.
For more than thirty years, Mickey Barnett has actively participated in public life and politics in a variety of capacities. His public sector work, often as a volunteer, has always sought to help increase both the efficiency of the government as well as its protection of individual liberties.
He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Eastern New Mexico University before earning his juris doctorate degree from the George Washington University National Law Center in 1977.
